If You Can't Find Joy here...

You're not trying!! We had an awesome trip to the cabin! Not without our share of mishaps...Vic got a speeding ticket on the way up...that's what he gets for renting a screaming orange mini SUV!!! No, seriously, he was doing 70 in a 65...the Highway patrolman wrote him up for 75, saying that it won't matter on the price of the ticket. Vic is NOT happy...he had three kids in the car with him who will start driving in the next year and he was trying to teach them respect for the law...kinda hard when the law was a big jerk!!
We had one day of beautiful skiing...light crowds, perfect conditions...that's when I took the photo above...yeah, that's Vic that looks like a terrorist on skis! Gotta love my man!! The next day was a huge storm...mostly stayed around the cabin, boys played an unbelievably LONG game of Risk, kids went to play on a snow hill that was close by because it was just too much to waste our money on the slopes.
The third day was very eventful...cold, wind on the slopes, so half of us bailed mid day...only to find the fire department at our cabin when we returned!!! NOT a good feeling! Apparently, the snowplow driver decided to widen our driveway and ran into the post that blocks our propane shut off on the front of the cabin. Did you know that when you shove a 4 x 4 steel post that it makes the pavement buckle and then snaps the neck of your propane pipe???? Do you know how lucky we are that there was a storm the day before so we decided to stay an extra day at the cabin so we were still there to take care of the problem. Do you know how blessed we feel that the neighbors were out walking their dog when they were and smelled the propane and found the HISSING pipe?? Yeah, this could have been a really bad situation, but it all worked out. We lost a minimal amount of propane, were able to get it repaired in time to not do damage to the hydronic heating in the floors (that feels so good when you get up in the middle of the night to pee and the bathroom floors are not freezing cold!). So as you can see, there was much JOY to be found over the last few days...beautiful scenery, fun teenage laughter, warm cozy cabin floors, puzzle building, neverending RISK games, good food and lots of love!
Off to a Donna Downey class this afternoon...tell me I won't find joy there!!! Get to meet up with some pea friends and learn from one of my scrapbooking idols!!! Yay!
